Weight management
You need to have realistic goals and expectations for
weight management. You're much more likely to meet your goals and keep
the weight off if you try to lose just 5% of your weight than if you
set a goal like "lose 20 pounds in four weeks."
Weight management requires gradual weight loss. Extreme diets often
result in rebound effects. There are times when people with serious
health problems need to lose weight quickly, but a physician needs to
supervise this process.
While you will see plenty of commercials for pills quick fix programs,
true weight management requires extended effort over a long period of
time. Start by reducing the number of calories you eat per day. Also,
work in regular exercise at moderate levels and get the support you
need to make healthy lifestyle changes.
